Wireless for Paragliders

Interfaces for a Smart Vario

Customer's Challenge

For hanggliders and paragliders the variometer which shows lift and sink is the central instrument. Today's "varios" contain many more functions: flight planning, satellite navigation, collision warning, maps, flight recording and many more. These functions entail several interfaces, mostly wireless.

Outcome

We developed and optimized several of those interfaces, both hardware and driver software. Using a holistic approach with software, electronics and logistics/ manufacturing at optimized overall cost a working solution for the end customers could be achieved.

Customer

Flytec/Volirium was the largest manufacturer of variometers for hang gliders, paragliders and hot air balloons.
