For a professional coffee machine with its multiplicity of products and its many configuration possibilities, user interface languages and maintenance options to be operated easily a full graphical, touch based user interface is necessary. This results in a complex control system, which gets even more complex through the many dependencies from the hardware and especially from the mechanics of the machine.

This complexity could be mastered through an integrated team with the developers of the customer and an iterative delivery of the software in sprints, so the machine could be rolled out for the world market.

Notwithstanding the size of the project, Franke Coffee Systems was always informed on the project situation through the transparent project, change and risk management. Because of the holistic approach and the fast familiarization with the specific industry knowledge, Solcept could also give valuable impulses for the integration of the complete machine outside of software and electronics development.

The software was programmed on three processors mainly in C++, at several places code generators where used. Thereby and through the use of simulation to automate tests and to allow the development independent of the target hardware, the effort and the quality could be optimized at the same time.
